Stunning and Unexpected… Shades of Purple & Turquoise

This is a stunning and unexpected combination and I just love it! The turquoise gives the dark colors a bit of a pop. You could use the butterflies on the cake as well as “flying” around the centerpieces. The colorful glass rocks would be fun inside of vases, but also scattered around the center of the tables.

The crisp and clean look of black and white damask paired with a bright and vibrant color like turquoise is a winning combination!

Out of all the favors I’ve done so far, the clear ones are my favorites. I just love how easy it is to transform a clear box into a color-coordinated favor. Of course ribbon and a colorful sticker help, too, but there’s just something extra special about the contents being part of the color scheme that makes me happy! Candy like jelly beans, Jordan almonds and M&M’s come in such a wide variety of colors now, the possibilities are endless and so much fun!

Your spring or summer wedding would be fabulous in this color scheme! It’s bold, it’s vibrant, it’s dazzling and it’ll make your guests feel like dancing. You just can’t help but smile and feel happy when you’re surrounded by it! What more can you ask for?

When you choose three or more colors for your wedding, keep in mind that you don’t have to use all three colors in every element. While you would probably want your bouquet and centerpieces to include all of the colors, you can pair just two in other items.

For example, the bridesmaids’ dresses can be fuschia and orange and the flower girl’s dress can be green. That way you aren’t overloading anyone with too many colors.

DIY Modern Flower Girl Basket Ideas

This is an easy project that will definitely save you money. You can make this unique basket for less than $10! Plus, when you make something yourself, you can really show your personality and style. Little things like that will make your wedding even more memorable and special.

The basic materials that you will need are:

* take-out container (available at craft stores)
* paper
* flowers
* ribbon
* tape
* glue
* scissors
* pencil

Directions:

1. Cut off the flaps of the box.

2. Tape the handle in an upright position.

3. Lay the box down on the back side of the paper and trace around with a pencil. Cut it out. Cut one out for each side. The sides with the handle seem to need a slightly larger piece.

4. Glue the paper to the sides of the box.

5. Decorate the box with flowers and ribbons.

In my examples, I’ve used different types of flowers. Use your imagination and decorate with whatever will go with your wedding. You can use any kind of flowers but also consider buttons, shells, bows, feathers, beads or crystals.

This color scheme is romantic and earthy, perfect for a fall wedding! I love the softness of the green and ivory with the brown. I know that brown has become a trendy wedding color over the past few years, but I think pairing it with softer colors makes it elegant.

I love all the synonyms people use for brown. Maybe they don’t think brown sounds classy enough! Some of my favs are mocha, chocolate, cocoa, coffee and espresso. It’s interesting that they’re all food-related too! Other words for green include sage, celadon, olive, moss, kiwi and pine.

Simple & Modern DIY Centerpiece

So, you want your wedding and reception to look straight out of the bridal magazines, right? They spare no expense in the floral department to achieve that effect. Fresh flowers are expensive! Here’s a great way to save money on the centerpieces and I can guarantee that your guests won’t even know the flowers are fake!

To make this simple and modern centerpiece, start with a square glass container and closed-bud roses. You’ll need 27 roses (9 per layer/3 layers) for the 9.5″ tall container. Trim so that the stem and the rose is approximately 3″ long. Begin by layering in the roses, stem side down into the container. You can alternate colors or use all one color.

If your container is a different size, play around with the roses until you get the look that you like. This is really open to a lot of interpretation. You can even try a different kind of flower. Have fun with it!

Red, white & blue doesn’t have to be patriotic!

When you hear “red, white and blue” you probably think of the 4th of July and all things patriotic. However, when slightly different shades are chosen, the look is modern and can be elegant or even whimsical. Be sure to include enough white to balance out the strong hues.

This color scheme would be appropriate for practically any season. Darken up the red a bit for winter, maybe choose turquoise for a vibrant summer effect. Here are some of my favorite things for a red, white and blue wedding:
